My grandfather started the business in 1903. That’s the same year the Wright brothers became “first in flight,” and the year Ford Motor Company was officially incorporated. Dallas Plumbing Company started as just that - a plumbing service run out of Ward Downs’ horse-drawn wagon in Dallas, TX.
As the city grew, so did DPC. We added heating and air services in 1956, and later became a factory authorized dealer for Carrier products. Along the way, we’ve literally helped build the city, and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of its history for the past 115 years.
My father, Lt. Fred Downs, took over from my grandfather after World War II. I got a business degree from Texas Tech, and started in the family business after graduation. In 1981, I became the third generation owner of Dallas Plumbing Company, and I'm happy to have my siblings in management with me.
A lot has happened with the company just in my time, but our goal is and has been to provide exceptional, experienced services and products to all our customers. We’re proud of our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and always guarantee our work 100%. We’ve also received the Angie’s List Super Service Award and the Consumers Choice Award.
As technology has improved, so have we. That goes for the products and services we offer, and for how we communicate with customers. We noticed our customers relied on phone calls less and less, and used text messages more and more. So we started using Text Request to connect with them.
We have thousands of customers and dozens of technicians servicing them. We use Text Request to schedule and confirm appointments every day, as well as to get updates from technicians on their progress throughout the day. We also use it on our website to bring in new customers.
