I’d been in the hospitality industry for 6 years when I heard about the Moxy. Their brand is super fun and kind of edgy. I really liked how they’re trying to take the hospitality industry from a static place, where the hotel game has been for quite some time, to a new and exciting scene. I wanted to be a part of that next thing as opposed to the status quo.
As Director of Sales for the Moxy, I sell hotel rooms and event spaces. We specifically target Millennials and Gen X to give them not only what’s expected, but also what they want in a hotel—which is an experience they can share with others. That’s why the Moxy has both a hotel side and a bar and event side in our business.
Check in at the Moxy is at our bar, where we set the tone for your stay with a welcome cocktail. There are events every day, ranging from visiting musicians, to popup up roller rinks, to even silent discos. We do everything as far as events. We're also more likely to recommend things to do around Chattanooga than just our hotel services. Our goal is to keep things fresh and always give guests something a little unexpected.
The Moxy is meant to be the place where the next generation of travelers wants to be—but with everything going on with COVID-19, people can’t travel. Because of this we had an immediate impact from the virus. Our business has been hit from both the hotel side and the bar and event side, and that’s why we started using Text Request.
We had to take immediate action so we weren’t sitting around without customers, so we pivoted to focus more on the food and beverage side of our business. There was absolutely no planning time for this switch, and we had to figure out a way to communicate it to people, fast. We began communicating through our social media channels but needed to find another solution to further extend our reach.
People know the Moxy as a bar and hotel, but Text Request is helping us get the word out about our food. People don’t love phone calls and are way more willing to text instead. Now we are able to quickly and conveniently communicate with customers in real time. Customers text in their order and we deliver it curbside.
Because of this, Text Request also helps us protect our customers’ health as much as possible during the outbreak. People can maintain their social distance by staying in their vehicle, while we bring it to them!
